Toontrack! - 15/01/2019
While Metallica’s groundbreaking “Black Album” may be one of the more commonly known works in his discography, Bob Rock’s engineering and producing credits stretch all the way back to the late ’70s and include some of the best selling acts in rock history: Survivor, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe and Bryan Adams, just to name a few. While this collection doesn’t necessarily set out to replicate any specific production in Bob’s catalogue, it sums up more than three decades’ worth of experience working back to back with rock royalty and gives you the broadest possible palette of tools for your mixes.
Expect solutions to common mix issues, guitar and bass tones, vocal settings and much more – not only for heavy rock or metal, but for material across the genres. Welcome to a set of mix tools straight from the hands of the man who defined the sound of an era: Bob Rock.

NAMM 2019: Lewitt to debut $99 pencil mic! - 10/01/2019
New model is said to be the company's ‘most affordable ever’ condenser microphone.
Austrian manufacturer Lewitt is launching what is said to be its ‘most affordable ever’ condenser microphone at the 2019 NAMM Show later this month.
The LCT 040 MATCH, which debuts at $99, will be available as a single pencil mic as well as a stereo pair package, utilising a new stripped-back, ergonomic design for maximum positioning flexibility.
The LCT 040 MATCH stereo pair retails for $189. To guarantee flawless matching, Lewitt is using a custom-developed process which extensively analyses the microphones and couples those exhibiting identical behaviour, opening up new possibilities for studios striving to achieve the best possible stereo recordings.
Meanwhile, the new LCT 140 AIR includes ‘exceptional’ off-axis sound suppression, pre-attenuation and low-cut filter, while the SOUND toggle allows users to switch between a linear response or a nuanced, ‘airy’ mode for open, more characterful recordings. The LCT 140 AIR will debut at $149.
“We take great pride in the fact that Lewitt microphones are loved by an expanding community of high-profile engineers who want a modern alternative to old technology, and now we feel the time is right to bring the same design ethos to everyone who loves sound as much as we do,” said Roman Perschon, founder and CEO of Lewitt. “With the LCT 040 MATCH and LCT 140 AIR, more people than ever before will have the chance to experience Lewitt, and I can’t wait to introduce them at the NAMM Show.”
